A Trip to Sylvia Park

A few weeks ago the students of Glen Taylor School went on a trip to Sylvia Park to see all the Maniakalani Film Festival Movies. It was awesome, we got to go on a bus and we had to look after the kids in Room 6.
It was a great day.

Room 7 loves to Dance

The students in Room 7 decided to create their film as a class this year. We love to dance in Room 7 so that was our theme.

Who is Room 7?

One of the wonderful students in Room 7 decided to make this presentation to introduce others to the students in our class and some of the things they enjoy doing in their spare time.

Something Spooky is happening at Glen Taylor School

On Tuesday the 31st of October something seriously spooky happened at Glen Taylor School. Some of the students didn't look quite right. Hmmmm. . . . . 

Buddy Class

Room 7 is buddy class with the new entrant class at our school. Today we helped them move some stumps into their construction area. It was really hard work.

Room 7 has Rats!!!

In Room 7 we made paper mache Rats earlier in the year for our Rivers and Streams inquiry. We have started painting them and some of our class are getting very creative.

Blogs

In Room 7 we have been working on our Blog posting. It can be hard to remember all the wonderful things Mrs Grant has been teaching us.
Our teacher made us these cool cards that show us how to post and comment on our blogs. They are great because we can take them anywhere.

Maritime Museum Trip

On Tuesday 29th August Rooms 7, 11 and 12 went on a trip to the Maritime Museum. We saw the boats that they used to sail around New Zealand and the world. We enjoyed seeing what things used to look like not so long ago.

I had a Dream

Room 7 has been working on how to plan for our writing. We created a shared doc and brainstormed our ideas. This helped those who were struggling for ideas for their writing. We have shared some of our planning for our dream recounts. Enjoy.

Daffodil Day

Room 7 is working hard to create collages for Daffodil Day. We are raising money for the Cancer Society by selling stickers and Daffodils.

Thank You

Thank you Owairoa Netball Cub for donating Netball uniforms to Glen Taylor School. After sorting them into sizes and making sure we had enough sets of bibs the girls decided to try the uniforms on and head outside for a test run. We really appreciate your donation.

ALIM Maths

Some of the Room 7 students are lucky enough to be apart of the Glen Taylor ALIM Maths Programme. They are really enjoying what they are learning in Maths and are showing great confidence when trying new things.

ALIM Maths Programme

Some of the Room 7 boys are taking part in Miss O'Hanlon's ALIM Maths programme. These boys are lucky enough to get Math twice a day. They seem to be loving it and are enjoying using their knowledge during Room 7's Maths discussions.

Kawa of Care Evening

Today in Room 7 some of our students got to take their Chromebooks home. They invited their parents along to see how they responsibly manage their Chromebooks for learning. Here are some of our students and parents having an awesome time.

Connect 4

In today's session we have been focusing on connection and how this enhances our ability as teachers but that it also greatly benefits our learners.

At the completion of a creative day of learning we finalised and cemented our learning by completing a game of connect 4. Great way to end a successful day.

Student Led Conferences

On Thursday 27th July Glen Taylor School held it's Student Led Conference evening. There was a great turn out of parents. The students in Room 7 enjoyed sharing their learning with their families. They showed them how they use their Chromebooks for learning and what they can access on their Chromebooks.

All Blacks Tutira Mai Challenge

On Monday the 3rd of July a small group of students and teachers form Glen Taylor School had the opportunity to perform their Tutira Mai dance in front of some of the All Blacks. It was a close competition but unfortunately we couldn't come away with a win in the end. Everybody still enjoyed the evening especially the goodie bags we got at the end. Thank you New Zealand Rugby Union for the awesome opportunity.

Teachers vs Students Netball

Our senior students decided to take on our teachers in a very hard fought Netball match yesterday at lunch time. Unfortunately the students were not successful and went down 7-0 to the teachers.

Today the Room 7 students learnt how to blog. We are really enjoying seeing our work posted online.
